Let's get Politics out of the Schools.

The NAACP has filed a federal lawsuit against Hanover County over the names of two of our schools.

How about discussing a real solution.  We can all agree that LDHS/SJMS are some of the older schools in the division; with repair and maintenance costs continuing to rise.

Propose building a new High School / Middle School complex that these students deserve.

The naming controversy does not benefit anyone.

Absentee Voting

I know many of you are getting ready to send your child off to college - some for the first time.   Please remind them of the importance of voting while they're gone.  They can begin the process now by registering to vote absentee.   It's easy and quick!

Promoting the Campaign

We're designing ideas for the upcoming release of our campaign yard signs.

What do you think of this idea?

New Teacher Ed Degrees & Programs

Earlier this week, Gov Northam & others announced several  new initiatives and programs to help aspiring teachers get the credential they need to teach.

This is the culmination of much work from many groups working together.  One of those groups supporting this work is VASCD where I am a former President and current Board member.   Many candidates running for BOS say they "support teachers";  well, this is an example of "getting stuff done"  that will directly impact teaching and learning in VA.

I look to bring this type of successful experience to Hanover to support and improve the educational system.

Help Spread the Word

You will not see a contested primary for Henry district on June 11.  The Republican party has one candidate and the Democrat party is not fielding a candidate.  I am running as an Independent voice for Board of Supervisors.

For the November 5th election you will see my name on the ballot and you will have an opportunity to vote for improvement in the Henry District.

While Nov 5th seems like such a long way off, I appreciate all of your continued support; and I ask again that you use your voice - through conversations and social media - to help me spread the message of my campaign.

Why I am running as an Independent

I really believe We Can Do Better if we are all working together.  I feel energy would be better spent on positive motives than negative energy spent tearing others down.

I encourage everyone to stay involved in their local gov't and know what is going on.

Hanovarians, I believe, want what's best for their family & county.  I'm hopeful that we can look past traditional partisan politics and work together for what's best for all of us.

Gift of Life Memorial at Regional Memorial Medical Center

I enjoyed meeting some Hanover residents at the unveiling of a new sculpture at Regional Memorial celebrating the lives of organ, tissue and eye donors and their families.

Education, Health services and a sense of community are so important.

BTW, there was great piano music at the reception!

Like our Facebook page for Updates

One of the many things I'm learning about in my pursuit of serving as Henry District Supervisor is....Facebook!

I have been given some great advice by some folks about how to continue to spread the word about the "We Can Do Better" campaign.  And I'm listening to that advice.

Please like my Facebook Page @VoteDarylChesley to receive frequent updates.

Thanks Mechanicsville Local

Thanks to the Local for a great announcement of my campaign.

What I also found great about this issue was the article on p. 2 about Mr. D from PGES who is a Kidney/Heart recipient.  (please take a moment to read that article as well).

In my current position at the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) we have the pleasure of working every day to make life saving matches that help people like Mr. D return to his family, his job, and his community to honor the gift of life.  Well done Local bringing attention to the life saving gift of organ transplantation.

Help Spread the Word - Forward this to Five Friends

Please commit to forwarding VoteDarylChesley to up to five of your friends.

As an independent, one challenge is making the community aware of our campaign.  As your elected Supervisor, I will look to make positive change in our community through continuous improvement efforts and ensuring efficient and limited government.

With everyone pitching in just a little bit, we can spread the word that I will be the best choice on this November's ballot for Henry District.

It's Official

Today, The Committee to Elect Daryl Chesley took another large step forward!   All necessary paperwork for the campaign has been received at the Hanover Voter Registration & Elections Office.  I'm officially a Candidate!

The Staff in the General Registrar's Office is fantastic to work with and exhibit a high level of professionalism. I am very appreciative of their efforts.

And, thank you for your continued support.  While "filing the paperwork" is just a small achievement, it keeps us on schedule and allows us to now focus on the campaign - We Can Do Better!

Thanks to those supporting We Can Do Better

Thank you to the many many friends and neighbors who have shown support for a new brand of leadership for Henry District.

My goal as Supervisor will be to implement policy that will enhance each of our lives.  I am not tied to a particularly limited ideology.  As an independent candidate, I have the freedom to do what is right - every time!  It is quite a great feeling.

I'm closing in on my goal of submitting all of the necessary documentation to the County Registrar in the month of February, to qualify me as a candidate.

November is a long way away, but with your help, we will have a great showing when the votes are counted.  Continue to send me your great feedback and ideas!

What's On Your Mind

I would love to hear your ideas and concerns as they related to Henry district and Hanover County.  Please take the time to share your thoughts with me through the Contact link.

Over the many years I've lived in Henry district, I've seen first hand what the value of having good representation in government can do for citizens, services and the schools.

Please join me in ushering in a new vision for our Board of Supervisors - where We Can Do Better!

I'm running for the Board of Supervisors; I'm not a politician

I just had a great phone call with a friend.  When I explained to her my intention to serve as Supervisor for Henry District, she basically said "You'll be a great politician".  We both paused for a few seconds and she changed her comment to "You're running for elected office; you're not a politician".

While that might seem like only a slight difference, it's one that I agree with.  My intention for running for BOS is to use my leadership skills to enhance the lives of everyone in Hanover County - and to bring integrity to the entire process, for everyone involved.  I will not get caught up in the nastiness that we too often see in politics.  Running as an independent will allow me the freedom to work for every citizen in Henry.

I will do what is right - because it is the right thing to do!

I hope you'll join me by supporting my campaign to elect me and bring a highly qualified, leader - with a strong sense of decency - back to the BOS for Henry District.
